Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, is a top level engineering college of India, located in Uttarkhand. It is the second oldest IIT. This college has a beautiful campus. IIT Roorkee was established in 1847 by James Thomason, as the Thomason College of Civil Engineering, it became the University of Roorkee in 1949 and was later finally converted to an IIT in 2001. - You can get admission through JOSSA Counselling.
M.TECH & M.ARCH
- To get admission in M.Tech or M.Arch you should qualify GATE Exam.

Research and Developmen
IIT Roorkee also has a strong track record in research and development (R&D). It has advanced labs and research centers that work in different areas like nanotechnology, transportation, and disaster management. Both faculty and students work on important projects in various topics like renewable energy, water management, AI, biotechnology, etc.
You will also find a Tinkering lab here. Tinkering lab refers to space where the youngsters can experiment with, learn, develop, and conceptualize different scientific ideas. It is very similar to the DIY (do-it-yourself) method. Students can work anytime inside the lab. No timing restrictions are there. Student has to apply 24 hours in advance for key permission.

Hostels
IIT Roorkee has 10 boys' hostels, 3 girls' hostels, 6 married hostels, and one co-ed hostel. Mixed-use hostel system with students from various academic programs and years living together. You can get either single seated or double seated rooms, depending on the hostel allotted. Most of the first-year students get double shared rooms, but some are also allotted single shared rooms. Rooms are allotted on the basis of their air in JEE.
